Penny Vavura
(518) 427-1186
As Senior Counselor at Pierce Communications, Penelope Vavura uses her 15 years of public relations, marketing and development experience to counsel health care, manufacturing, retail, cultural/tourism, education, state association and technology clients from the Capital Region, New York State and across the country.
Born and raised in Albany, Penny attended Binghamton University and graduated with a degree in Archaeology/Anthropology. She combined her love of history and museums and gained valuable experience in arts administration, including exhibition preparation teams, corporate fundraising, special events and collateral design, at the New York State Museum Institute. From there, her love of the arts took her to the Albany Institute of History & Art where she was involved in the Institute’s 2001 grand re-opening celebration that included extensive promotional, media, corporate development, advertising, in-kind, and web campaigns.
Penny’s non-profit experience provided the foundation for transition to the corporate and agency worlds. She has led clients in extensive media relations efforts, cultivation of stakeholders, special events, strategic marketing plans, advertising campaigns and collateral design.
Penny is an active volunteer in the Capital Region community, serves on the board and several committees of the AIDS Council of Northeastern New York and participates on event committees in and around downtown Albany.
